The violinists of the Valenches Music Company’s Sinfonia Youth Orchestra have been hard at work and this weekend, they’re ready to show their stuff!
Sinfonia Youth Orchestra Concert
WHO: The Valenches Music Company’s Sinfonia Youth Orchestra
DIRECTED BY: Fritz & Leah Valenches
WHAT: Annual Fall Concert
WHEN: Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 3:15 p.m.
WHERE: St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church – 322 Chestnut Street Dunmore, PA 18512
TICKETS: $5.00 each – available at the door
This concert features violinists within a wide range of ages (from 4 years old – youth orchestra parents) and playing abilities (from beginner to advanced students).
Our youngest players are ready to dazzle with their rock-solid bow grips — always the foundation of good violin playing — and their beginning note-reading adventures.
Some of our more experienced players will be putting their fingers to the test with the “Sarabande” from Bach’s unaccompanied Violin Sonata II.
If Bach isn’t a good enough workout (and we assure you, IT IS), the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra virtuoso violinists will also be performing movements of Sarasate’s “Zigeunerweisen” — HOLY SMOKING FINGERS BATMAN!
And Some Popular Classics for Good Measure…
What would a concert be without some classic classics to round out the program?
- Camille Saint-Saens “The Swan”
- Edvard Grieg “Waltz” and “Album Leaf” from Lyric Pieces
- Franz Schubert “Moment Musical”
- Edward Elgar “Liebesgruss”
- “Old Viennese Melody” – traditional theme made famous by Fritz Kreisler
- & one extra special piece: “Children’s Christmas March”
What’s a Christmas piece doing in the middle of all this classical music? We’re getting ready for an exciting opportunity…
Sinfonia Youth Orchestra with the NEPA Philharmonic!
That’s right! The members of the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra will be performing on stage with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic in their upcoming holiday program! This is what inspiration is all about — young musicians sharing the stage with an orchestra full of professional musicians.
Just to be sure you’ll get your fill of Christmas music, you can also catch “Virtuoso” playing their signature 4-part Christmas carols in the lobby before the performances.
